To God Be The Glory - Various Artists

Grandiose scenery and instrumental hymns are the order of the day with this DVD from Kingsway.  It’s made by Fox so, rather than Cumbria we have shots of the Appalachian mountains and New England coastline, which is no bad thing as the scenery is often breathtaking.  The music is, of course, designed to relax and soothe, with mixed results. The Eden Orchestra best reflect the visuals and the spirit of the hymns with opulent arrangements, including a spine-tingling performance of Be Still My Soul (Sibelius’ Finlandia). Other tracks to chill to come from The David Shelly Ensemble.  These arrangements are wordless, though you have the option of having the lyrics on the screen. Each hymn comes with an inspirational verse and there’s a bonus audio CD of the same material.

Vineyard - Thank You For The Cross     ISBN: 1280702

UK Vineyard Worship have made an unmistakable impact on the UK worship scene. Since their first release in 1998 with Come Now Is The Time the unique  Vineyard sound has begun a revolution in the way we worship in church and produced a catalogue of now classic songs.
This release looks back over the last eight years at  songs focusing on the Cross. The glory and mercy of Christ's sacrifice are found in songs like the title track and Great Is Your Name. Alongside are more reflective songs such as the heart cry of I Have Been Redeemed and the inspiring, celtic reworking of the classic When I Survey. A perfect album both for personal reflection and as a church resource.
